Heavily armed men, believed to be operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), invaded Urban Radio Station, a private broadcast house in Enugu State, Southeast Nigeria, on Monday evening.
The management of the radio station confirmed the incident in a statement, revealing that the suspected EFCC operatives barged into their Live studio, halted the “Prime Time” programme, abducted presenters, and confiscated communication equipment without offering any explanation for their actions.
“Whilst we are following up with the matter, we will continue to inform our dear listeners accordingly through this medium”.
“Once again we apologize for the unethical break-in into our live studio and the disruption of your favorite programmes and hope that the matter will be resolved as soon as possible and for whatever the reasons,” the statement read in part.
ait.live reports that so far, neither the EFCC nor any other security agency has issued a statement regarding the incident.
