Newnaija In Delta State, South South region of Nigeria, the country’s 64th Independence day anniversary celebration which held at the Cenotaph, Asaba was a colourful one as people under different Associations, organisations and bodies mostly dressed in shades of green colours to reflect the Nigerian flag “Green-White-Green”
The 2024 event was quite unique as dancing steps to the tune of musics in place of the usual match past, with citizens seemingly not minding the current socio-economic hardship in the country.
The mood at the Asaba event was a throw back of the immense joy and bountiful hope that enveloped Nigerians exactly 64 years ago when she first regained her sovereignty from the British colonial masters at the October 1st, 1960 Independence day ceremony.
