Low turn-out of voters Characterise Plateau LG election

The much anticipated local government election in Plateau State has recorded a relatively low turnout of the electorate amidst the late arrival of Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission officials across some polling units in the state.

Some of the people who spoke are however hopeful that the exercise will express the wishes of Plateau citizens.

Election at most units kicked off proper at about ten thirty Wednesday morning with the electorate calling for a transparent exercise and also appealed to citizens to accept the outcome peacefully.

A group of people called for the release of more ballot papers to their polling unit as the number initially sent did not cover the number of voters.

The security deployment across the monitored area was quite impressive as policemen and other paramilitary agencies were fully on the ground.
