Hope Spring project in Orimolade Community LekkiHope Spring project in Orimolade Community Lekki Agege, Lagos and Hereford, England based water poverty reduction NGO, Hope Spring water, announced plans to help more communities to access safe, clean water. This year, the charity has helped thousands of people, from a number of communities in Nigeria to find a long lasting solution to their water shortage problems. Typical solutions the organisation employed to solve water scarcity include building boreholes, wells and sometimes training communities on how to harvest rainwater.   In a blog post on the charitys blog, it expresses delight at the number of people and communities it has helped so far, and promises to double its fundraising efforts, so that it can help even more people and communities in the coming years.  The post commended the charitys fundraising platform, particularly Hope Spring free charity ecards website. The website drives donations that fund the charity’s projects. Most visitors to the site make a small donation directory to the charity. Others make a donation when they use the ecard facility to send greetings to friends and family.  Partnership with local communities – The key to success and sustainability  Meeting with local CDA to discuss waterMeeting with local CDA to discuss water For a small charity like Hope Spring water, the reason it is able to achieve a lot with so little resources is it’s approach to water poverty alleviation.  Hope Spring always works with the local community.  Most of the time the local community knows the best place to cite a borehole or well for maximum benefit to the local people. When taken along at every step of the process, they feel in control and ownership of the project. This is crucial for project success and sustainability. Once the local community takes ownership, maintenance and ensuring the water project continues to serve the people for many years to come is guaranteed. The picture above shows executives of a community development association (CDA) in Agege working with the Hope Spring team.  A look ahead to more clean water projects to doLivestock and people sharing same waterLivestock and people sharing same water According to Hope Spring founder Temi Odurinde, his charity still has a lot to do. Though thousands of people have benefited from the clean water project his organisation has done so far, he argued that many more can benefit.  He expresses concern for rural communities, where the need for clean water is even more pressing, and the health implication of the lack of access to safe, clean water is more dire.  Hope Spring water hopes to work with more rural communities in the coming years, in the hope that they will help at least fifty thousand people gain access to clean water, closer to their homes.  The impact of clean water to transform a community Hope Spring Water Charity has had a profound impact on Nigerian communities by providing access to clean water for over 1000 communities like Atobaje Community Water Project in Lagos and others. Through the installation of boreholes, the charity has helped improve the health and well-being of thousands of people. With clean water available, Atobaje and other communities have seen a significant reduction in waterborne diseases such as cholera and dysentery, which are common in areas with unsafe drinking water. The availability of clean water has also led to better hygiene practices, contributing to overall public health improvements.Beyond health, the charitys work has had a transformative effect on daily life in Ifo local government area of Ogun state and other communities. Women and children, who traditionally bear the responsibility of walking long distances to collect water, are now able to devote more time to education and other meaningful activities. Hope Spring has provided reliable water access for GDJSS Ilorin Kwara State and other communities which boosted agricultural productivity, as farmers can irrigate their crops more effectively, improving food security and economic stability. The efforts of Hope Spring Water Charity have not only provided clean water but have also paved the way for long term community development and empowerment, helping break the cycle of poverty in rural Nigeria. Empowering communities with clean water The NGO has empowered Atobaje Community  with the availability of borehole water systems and the inspiration for this project came from a group within the community. The other communities, like GDJSS Ilorin Kwara State, have long struggled with inadequate access to safe drinking water, leading to widespread health issues, economic challenges, and gender inequality. By constructing boreholes and wells, Hope Spring has empowered these communities, improving their overall health and quality of life. Clean water has significantly reduced the prevalence of waterborne diseases such as cholera, dysentery, and diarrhoea, which once plagued these regions, particularly affecting vulnerable populations like children and the elderly. Moreover, all these achievements were with the help of donations from Hope Spring eCards, particularly during Christmas time and this charity organisation are aiming to help more communities because access to clean water has been their major priority.  Join us today in making a lasting impact, support Hope Spring Water Charity and help more communities thrive through the gift of borehole water systems. You too can help! – donate, fundraise, or volunteerMost of the time when we read an article like this one, it never occurred to us that we can be part of the change. Yes, you too can help change the lives of people in dire need of safe, clean water to drink.  You can make a donation to Hope Spring water so that they can continue their incredible work. If you are not able to donate money, you can donate your skills or other resources you have to help them make a difference.
