The Gombe State Governor, Inuwa Yahaya has inaugurated a high-powered negotiation team to resolve the industrial action embarked by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), and the National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT) at the Gombe State University
According to the Governor, the State government had initiated the move to engage the Labour Unions in the State University to find amicable solutions to the disputes between the Unions and the Management of the University.
He noted that the efforts was to address the ongoing strike by the Unions at the Gombe State University (GSU) which has disrupted academic activities for weeks, and to ensure the early return of students to classes for lectures.
The negotiation team which has the State Deputy governor at the head, also has the State Commissioners for Justice, Budget and Education, as well as some other top government officials including Local Government Areas chairmen, were tasked with the assignment of reaching an amicable agreement with the University Unions’ team drawn from the Academic Staff Union of university (ASUU), Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SANU) and the National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT).

Governor Inuwa Yahaya noted the impact that the strike has had on the standing of the University as regards accessing funds for its stability and growth.
Leader for the State Government Team and State Deputy Governor assured that the impasse would be resolved soon and normal academic other activities returned to the University.
