Borno flood: ACF Tasks FG, State, To Develop Comprehensive Development Plan

The Arewa Consultative Forum, (ACF), has tasked the federal and state governments to develop and enforce a comprehensive settlement plan, prohibiting construction on waterways, to mitigate the recurrence of devastating floods in Maiduguri and Jere.

Bashir Dalhatu, who is the Chairman, ACF Board of Trustees, made the call in the company of his team in Maiduguri, stressing the urgent need for increased support, to alleviate the catastrophic impact of the floods.

The recent disaster resulted in significant loss of lives, destruction of property worth billions of Naira, and the displacement of thousands of people.

Dalhatu noted that the magnitude of the devastation requires collective action.

Dalhatu and his team had condoled with the governor and the Shehu of Borno, underscoring the ACF’s commitment to supporting affected communities.

The ACF also called on well-meaning individuals, organisations and government bodies to intensify support for communities devastated by the flooding.
