Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia has sworn into office newly elected chairmen of 23 local councils in the state.
Performing the inauguration ceremony at the Government House in Makurdi the State capital, Alia urged them to stay and work in their local councils as they were not elected to be parading towns and cities.
Responding on behalf of the new council chairmen, Dennis Guda pledged to work in line with the State Government’s blue print.
The state house of assembly had on Friday approved a 3 year tenure for the local government chairmen and councillors.
