The couple, who had already been planning their traditional wedding for November, are now calling things off.
According to a close friend of the woman, identified as @Starbede on X, the couple got engaged in May. However, the issue started when the woman secured a new job, which offers a salary three times that of her fiancé’s.
Rather than celebrating the success of her woman, the fiancé reportedly demanded that she reject the job offer, as he feels that her increased earnings would cause a lack of respect toward him.
The post read:
“My friend got engaged in May, and their traditional wedding was meant to be in November. Yesterday, she called me in tears to tell me the engagement had been called off.”
“She got a new job last month with a salary so huge that she will earn three times more than her fiancé. He was uncomfortable and asked her to reject the offer, saying she wouldn’t respect him if she made that much. Despite efforts to convince him otherwise, he insisted, and the engagement was called off.”
