Nigeria’s Flamingos played out a 1-1 draw with Mexico in their first friendly in Santo Domingo ahead of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.

Faridat Abdulkareem gave Flamingos the lead in the 33rd minute.

The Mexicans fought back, equalising three minutes before the break.

The two teams failed to hit the target in the second half despite creating numerous scoring chances.

The Flamingos are expected to play more friendlies as they step up preparations for the World Cup.

Bankole Olowookere’s side are in Group A with hosts Dominican Republic, Ecuador and New Zealand.

They will face New Zealand in their opening game on Wednesday, October 16.
