Men of the anti-vandal unit of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Niger State command, have intercepted a trailer loaded with water pipes suspected to be vandalised products from Zamfara state.

Commandant of the Corps, Adamu Kambra, who disclosed this, said from preliminary investigations, the truck and consignment lack the necessary documents while the water pipes belong to the Zamfara state government water board.

The trailer conveying about 72 water pipes was said to have been intercepted on October 4 by the Niger State anti-vandal team of the NSCDC, who were on routine patrol along Lambata in the Paiko Local government area of the state.

Commandant Adamu Kambra said 4 suspects who were the drivers of the trailer were arrested while the custodian of the consignment was also invited for questioning.

The Commandant added that a thorough investigation will be carried out in collaboration with his Zamfara state.

On his part, the custodian of the consignment, Mustapha Gide, claims he got them genuinely as scraps from a colleague in Zamfara state after the pipes were auctioned

According to him, a tonne of the scrap costs 600 thousand naira and the suspects will be freed if, after investigation, the items were acquired genuinely.
