The National Honours bestowed on some eminent personalities by President Bola Tinubu to commemorate Nigeria’s 64th Indepence Anniversary is already generating controversy in the National Assembly.

Members of the House of Representatives have rejected the Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (CFR) conferred on the Speaker of the House of Representatives by President Tinubi.

At its Plenary on Thursday, the House of Representatives members insist that the speaker who is number four in hierarchy after the President, Vice president and Senate President must be honored with Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON) same as the Senate President and Chief Justice of the Federation.

They described the CFR honour for the speaker as Injustice.

The reference of the “green chamber” as “the lower house” by a section of Nigerians also drew the anger of members of the House which they described as discriminatory.as the Senate was not superior to the House of Reps.
