Kwara teachers ask for better welfare as they mark their day

Teachers in Kwara state joined their counterparts across the world on Saturday to mark the 2024 world teachers day with a call for improved conditions of service.

Chairman, Nigeria Union of Teachers, Kwara State Wing, Yusuf Agboola who made the call while expressing concerns over certain conditions of service which include under payments, being overworked amongst others, said there is an urgent need for the world to strengthen the teaching profession with the required tools to take the profession to desired height.

The National President of the Union, Audu Amba on his part called on teachers to build capacities to help learners acquire new knowledge, skills, values and competence they need to shape their lives.

The theme for 2024 world teacher’s day is Valuing Teacher Voices: Towards a new social contract for Education.
