The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested an Islamic teacher, Malam Idris Abubakar, has been nabbed for allegedly sodomising two of his pupils aged 12 and 10 years. Abubakar, 22, of Gaya Ward in Mubi South Local Government Area, was arrested after the parent of one of the boys reported him to the police.The victims said the suspect who teaches them Islamic lessons engaged them in menial domestic work after study hours, during which time he also got them to massage his body before he would commit the act of homosexuality with them. The minors said the suspect warned them of severe consequences if they told anyone about his acts. The mother of one of the boys told the police that her son used to complain of stomach ache and purging. She said the complaint prompted her to investigate, with the boy initially refusing to tell her the whole truth until she threatened to take him to the police, after which he mentioned what had been going on between him and the Mallam. On his own part, however, the suspect has denied the charge of homosexuality, admitting only that he used to engage the boys in domestic work. The spokesperson of the command, SP Suleiman Nguroje, who confirmed the incident said the state Commissioner of Police has ordered a full-scale investigation into the matter. Ngoruje added that the suspect would be taken to court after investigation.
