There was panic at the University College Hospital, UCH in Ibadan when a spark ignited a fire in one of the wards in the hospital on Sunday.

Newnaija gathered that the fire incident happened in the early hours of Sunday.

It was learnt that the fire broke out in one of the hospital offices on the third floor of the South West 3 ward.

The fire reportedly resulted in panic among patients and their relations in the ward, causing chaos.

The Public Relations Officer of the hospital, Funmi Adetuyibi has confirmed the incident, saying the fire started from a spark in the change-over box.

“The fire incident occurred at about 8.10am on Sunday, 22nd September, 2024.

“The incident was caused by a spark at the changeover box at the Medicine Laboratory on the 3rd floor of the Hospital.

“The fire was limited to the change over panel in one of the rooms in the laboratory”.
