Newnaija Victims and families affected by recent violent attacks I Ekpoma, Edo State allegedly orchestrated by the now-arrested Chairman of Esan West Local Government Council, are calling on the Inspector General of Police to apprehend and prosecute those responsible.
Some injured individuals who shared their experiences, revealed that their political affiliations made them targets during the attacks.
Since the start of the Edo APC Governorship campaign, there have been several reports of violence targeting the party’s campaign activities.
In Akoko Edo local government area and Egbekpe Ekperi in Etsako Central Local Government Area, unknown gunmen tried to interrupt the rallies by firing shots near the campaign venues, instilling fear among supporters and leaders of the party.
On September 8 and 9, 2024, there were further attacks on APC members in Illeh community in Esan West Local Government Area, allegedly planned by the now-arrested council chairman.
Senator Monday Okpebholo and Senator Adams Oshiomhole have condemned the attacks at every rally since the incidents.
