Super Eagles caretaker coach Augustine Eguavoen was relieved after his side claimed a nervy 1-0 victory over the Mediterranean Knights of Libya in Uyo on Friday night.
Substitute Fisayo Dele-Bashiru scored the winning goal for the three-time African champions four minutes from time.
The Super Eagles maintained the top spot in Group D with seven points from three games.
“It was a huge relief for me and the boys,” Eguavoen said after the game.
“When the goal came, it was a big relief. But I expected us to score more goals. Overall, we’re happy; we’re still top of the group.”
The Super Eagles will face the North Africans again next week on Tuesday.
