Former Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney has suggested that the club currently has no captain.

The former England international questioned the current crop of players at Old Trafford as the club’s struggles this season continue.

In seven Premier League matches this season, the Red Devils have managed just two wins.

They’re currently 14th in the table with three losses during that period.

In the Europa League, the Red Devils have played twice and drawn both games, leaving them with two points.

Rooney spoke about Ten Hag’s side’s struggles this season on The Overlap.

“If you look at Manchester United now and look at the teams in the past, you’ve got five or six captains in every team. You look now, I don’t see one,” the former England international said.

“For Manchester United, that’s [pressure] never going to stop, and that’s down to the players’ mindset. You play for Man United; you’re going to get criticised and get praised.

“You see it in the news; it’s constant on Manchester United. I don’t think the players can deal with it. That’s the issue.”

Bruno Fernandes is currently wearing the captain’s armband at Old Trafford after he took over from Harry Maguire two seasons ago.
