In its bid to diversify the economy in the face of increasing hardship and improve the value chain of the agricultural industry, Plateau State Government is setting up a special agricultural processing zone.
According to the government, the aim is to reinvigorate the agro-allied industrial sub-sector of the economy.
At a ceremony marking the sign-on of the pioneer project that will kick start the special agricultural processing zone, the state governor who was represented at the event by the secretary to the state government said, the scheme is aimed at improving the lives of the citizens of the state who are predominantly farmers.

Some of the pioneer facilitators of the scheme applauded the initiative calling it revolutionary.
The special agricultural processing zone which is backed up by the African Development Bank will enhance the processing and standardization of agricultural produce.
In recent years, the agricultural sector in Plateau state has suffered severely due to the activities of herders.
