13 Inmates of Correctional Home Graduate from Open University

Thirteen Inmates of the Nigerian Correctional Home in Abeokuta Custodial Centre, Ogun State have graduated from the National Open University in various course of study.

The inmates during the convocation ceremony pleaded for a second chance as their academic training has helped to make them better and responsible citizens.

One of the graduates attained a Masters in Science in Peace and Conflict Management.

The other 12 graduated with Bachelor of Science in Criminology and security studies, Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Political science.

The prison authorities, academic community and well wishers present advised against stigmatization of the graduands.

The Nigerian Correctional Service, Ogun State Command says over 130 inmates have enrolled for degree programs with the National Open University, from 2017 till date, with over 100 inmates under going courses in the College of Education, while some are being trained in vocational skills as part of the Federal government policy on reintegration and rehabilitation of inmates serving prison terms across the country.
